About Posture Lab

Time on the couch, in a recliner or in bed is no longer just rest. We read, crochet, stream, game, scroll and work there. Posture Lab looks at what those hours do to the neck, shoulders, elbows and back, and turns it into posture and setup guidance you can use today.

Who runs it

Posture Lab is run by FIRMFLEX, the maker of the LevelUp Cushion, a memory-foam arm-support cushion designed to carry the weight of your arms while you sit. We say so openly: the Cushion Guide and Home Life categories mention the product with model codes (LC-130, LC-150, LC-WIDE, LC-CHAIR), and the Posture & Health and Hobbies categories are written to be useful whether or not you ever buy anything.

An official US online store is coming. Until then, articles name the product and model only and contain no purchase links.

Reviewed by

Articles are reviewed by Sayumi Okabe, a licensed occupational therapist (national license, Japan) on the FIRMFLEX team. She checks the practical advice from an occupational-therapy perspective: how people actually sit at home, where the arms rest, and the small environment changes that reduce strain in daily activities.

What we cover

  • Why the neck, shoulders and elbows tense up on deep sofas, sectionals and recliners, and what to do about it at home
  • Long seated activities: reading, crochet and knitting, couch gaming, streaming, working from the couch, road trips
  • Arm-support cushion types compared fairly: gaming pillows, lap desks, reading pillows, nursing pillows, and how to choose
  • Small setup changes that keep the body from slumping

The goal is not perfect posture. It is doing what you love a little longer, with a little less pain.
